The Cards Are Being Dealt So Get Ready To Play
Nakia Day, New CD, Shows, Radio, TV- I've Got A Full House & The Game Is On!
Dear Nakia,
Wow! As I write you this note, my debut CD, "Playing The
Cards" is actually being pressed and packaged! I am so
excited!
As you may know, I have been working on this record
since I left the Small Stars last April. With the help of some
great musicians and even better friends, it's done! It will be
shipped in time for some amazing events that I am
to tell you about, but before I go there, I just wanted to
give
a shout out to Shilah
Morrow from Sin City Marketing who had this to say
about my show in
LA:
"OMG!!! Nakia was really good...so soulful!"
Also, a huge thank you to all the folks at the
John Lennon Bus. Both of the Los Angeles shows went off
without a hitch and were a ton of fun! Thanks to the guys
who played with me at the Mint and to all the folks who came
out! Look for me back out on the west coast after SXSW in
March! This year's festival is going to rock for sure!
Playing The Cards CD Release At Lamberts Downtown
Southern Cousins To Perform, Event Part Of AMF's "Love Austin Music" Month
I'm going to start off with the CD release news first and
move into promo news and other stuff at the end. First off,
the official CD release party is also going to be my 32nd
birthday bash and it's being held at Lamberts in
downtown Austin at 401 West 2nd Street. Believe me when I
tell you their kitchen is putting out some of the best damn
food I have had in Austin in a long time! So come early to
eat downstairs. (Food will not be served upstairs during the
release party.) Call ahead for dinner reservations
but remember that the doors open at 10PM for my CD
release party upstairs so you want to be done in time to
come up and rock with my brand new band!
Oh yes, you read that correctly... I have officially put
together a band. Well... Kind of. When I play with a band it
will be billed as "Nakia with his Southern Cousins".
Now I could go into all the reasons that I chose that name,
but I won't. What I will do is tell you that the revolving line-
up includes players like, Mac McNabb, Barry
"Frosty" Smith", Matt Hubbard, and Steve
Zirkel, and more. This particular show will feature some
other
very special guests so I hope you are ready for a fantastic
experience. We will be playing all the songs off the record
and of course some select and very tasty
covers.

As for the album, it will be on sale that night of course. You

My CD release party has also been selected
by
the Austin Music Foundation as an official
event for their first annual "Love Austin Music"
month! So if you're not a member of AMF, stop by and
introduce yourself that night and of course you can always

Nakia Dominates Austin Radio!! Television!! City Hall?
3 Radio Shows, 2 Television Appearances & 1 Very Special Day
At several of these appearances I will be performing with the
Southern Cousins!
That means that you might be able catch this great band before
we do
our show at Lamberts on Saturday night!
February 15th will be "Nakia
Day in Austin!! and Mayor Will Wynn makes the
proclamation at 5:30PM sharp so get to City Hall early to
catch a quick performance with Southern Cousins!

so I hope to see you out.

Nakia Returns To National Television On NBC
Even If It Was For Only Like 6 Seconds On Friday Night Lights
You may remember when I totally
stole a commercial role from Brad Pitt a couple years ago
(apparently his belly was under contract not to be
painted... He's such a twink!) Well, now I have returned to
your big screen
TV.
The wait seemed a lot longer than it was, but
the episode
of Friday Night Lights that I am in ran last night on NBC. If
you
were watching or you had your DVR set you can actually see
me in the scenes at the television studio.
I am including one photo here for you to reference when
looking and then you can click it or HERE and go see the other 7 photos
that I snagged off my iMac screenshots thanks to the trusty
VLC. I hear you can download this episode here, but I wouldn't
know anything about that stuff.
I do know,
however, that NBC runs the episodes for free a day or so
after they air by visiting their site for the show. So
check it out!
