Goodbye '06! Hello '07!
Prepare Yourself For The Year Of Nakia
Hi,
Yes... It's technically the Chinese Year Of The Boar
of
course, but
there's just so much already going on and so much more
planned that I have to tell you about... It's going to be a
great
year
for me! I hope that's the kind of positive attitude you take for
yourself too!
I recently updated my
blog with a list of events that were
special to me in 2006 and after I was done, I looked back
and thought, "Wow! This year rocked!"
Today I want to tell you about a few
things that are coming up this month. January is off to a
great start!
Thanks again for your support in 2006 and I look forward to
sharing a great 2007!

Are You Experienced?
Nakia Set To Perform New Interpretations Of Jimi Hendrix Songs
Listen carefully... You don't want to miss this show!
Will Taylor & Strings Attached are at it again, but
this time
he's teamed up with Phil Brown whose new CD,
The Jimi
Project has been burning up the airwaves and garnering
critical acclaim and awards. Myself, Phil, and Rodney
Connell
will be handling the vocals. There's word that we may be
joined by some very special guests. (I wish I could
tell you,
but it's a surprise!) There will be two shows that both
take place Saturday, January 13th at St. David's
Episcopal Church in Downtown Austin. Ticket
information is available below.
This show will have
plenty of promotion on the radio next week. Here's where
you can tune in and hear us on the air (Live streams also
available online as
well in case you're not in Austin!)
:
KLBJ 93.7 FM
- Tue. 1/9 @ 8:20AM KUT 90.5 FM - Wed. 1/10 @

Head West Young Man!
Nakia Set To Take LA By Storm! Playing Two Shows In January!
The first show is a
Sin City
Presents show put on a sweetheart by the name of
Shilah
Morrow at The Mint - Friday 1/19 @ 8:30PM. I
start out the night with
a full band set followed by The
Small Stars (no - I don't
know if their former manager will be in town too), then later
in the night
is
my favorite band to move to Austin last year... The
Mother
Truckers! Hell yes!
This will be my
California
debut with a
full band, and I am blessed to have the amazing Victor
Indrizzo (Beck, Macy Gray, Aimee Mann)
behind the kit and his good friends, Martyn Lenoble
(Porno For Pyros, The Cult) on bass, and
Jinsoo Lim (Macy Gray, Rosey
) playing guitar. Make
sure to tell 'em
at the door that you're there to see Nakia!
Then... I have once again been invited to perform at the
John
Lennon Songwriting Bus! This makes my fourth
appearance at the bus and my second one at a
NAMM Show. This particular show will be in
front of the Marriott on Convention Way at 1PM
and I will doing this show solo with a piano.
EXTRA!! EXTRA!! NAKIA FEATURED AS AN EXTRA!!
Nakia To Appear On NBC's "Friday Night Lights" Episode 114
Back in December, I got a call from the Friday Night Lights
extras casting department. I had sent them a headshot
MONTHS ago and totally written it off, but apparently
they hadn't written me off yet. In fact, they wrote me in...
Kinda.
They asked if I would be available to work the following day.
When I inquired about what capacity I would be "working" in
they said they would like for me to appear on the show as a
"production assistant."
This was confusing. Did
they want me to be an actual PA for the show?
Nope... They wanted me to act in a few scenes
that Coach Taylor would be appearing in where he
has been
given a
TV show, but he turns out to be a horrible host.
So,
I called the office today and they have informed me that I
will be in episode 114 that is scheduled to air on
January 14th! Check your local listings for channels
and times!
You shouldn't be able to miss me in the
show as I am wearing a dark maroon sweater and jeans and
when Coach Taylor gets up out of his chair to leave, he
bumps his head on the boom mic I am operating. Comedy
Gold! See you in TV Land!
