Nakia & His Southern Cousins will begin our brand new weekly residency at Momo’s on W. 6th Street starting Thursday, May 1st at 10 PM! This is something we have been working on for a while, & we couldn’t be happier about it! Please make plans now to attend the first show at 10 PM Thursday, May 1st. It will be one for to remember for sure!
This means that we must say goodbye toEgo’s Lounge. This is effective immediately, so please check the listing below for all current shows before you head out to see us. We put in a lot of Fridays at Ego’s and thanks to you we have built something fantastic that we know will only be ten times better in a room like Momo’s!!

Friday, April 18th I
will be performing a VERY SPECIAL ACOUSTIC SET with Southern Cousins
guitarist, Mac McNabb. Yep! A duo show! The set starts at 11 PM so get
there a bit early, grab a table, order some beers and some grub! The
word is that they got a little bit of everything on the menu! This is a
great chance to catch me doing some of the material that I do NOT

Do you remember where you were a year ago today? I know I do.
Mayor Will Wynn had just handed me a proclamation declaring it “Nakia Day” in the city of Austin, Texas on February 15th, 2007!
Earlier that morning, I had been on Fox 7 News In The Morning, KGSR with Bryan Beck, and then later that night I went on the Bobby Bones Show over at ME Television. All of this was to help celebrate the release of my first solo recording, Playing the Cards, but it also helped celebrate my 32nd birthday. That following Saturday night we held a huge party at Lambert’s Downtown BBQ where people came from as far as Chicago and even my family from Alabama to help make it a big success. It was standing room only. I had never been more happy in my life.
Maybe you there there to be a part of it, or perhaps you got on board this train ride of mine later on in the year. In either case, I want to thank you for making the last year of my life such a blessed one, full of love and miracles, and I want to invite you to kick off another year of the same. This year’s official “Birthday Bash Celebration” is taking place this coming Wednesday night, February 20th at Jovita’s on South 1st Street. So, whether you’re flying in from Chicago again, driving up from San Antonio, or hopping “On The Bus” to ride across town to Jovita’s, please come and join us for a great night of friends, fun, music, prizes from the KGSR Social Club (including a pair of tickets to see Bruce Springsteen in Houston and a stay at the Omni Hotel), and, of course, CAKE AND A PINATA!! We will be performing Friday, March 14th at Lambert’s Downtown BBQ - Yep! That’s the place where a year ago we held our official CD release party and had our first show as a band!
