Dear friends,
Last week we threw down at Momo’s for our first night in our new residency. It feels so good to have found a new home with such a great staff, a proper dance floor, pro stage and lights, and… wait for it… GREAT SOUND! I hope you can make it out this week to the show. In case you didn’t know already I am sendin you this note to remind you about one very important detail…

Our show at Momo’s this week is Friday night (that’s tomorrow) the 16th! That’s great news if you normally couldn’t make it out on a Thursday night. So again - just to be sure everyone’s on the same page…
The band will perform at Momo’s tomorrow night - Friday, the 16th at 10:30PM and will be back to our regular Thursday night gigs next week. You know that we are gonna bring the show… You just show up. Bring a friend or two and get ready to have a great time. Head over to the trusty Do512.com to vote for this event or get directions.
Word on the street is that a large group of the Cousins’ Kin will be gathering downstairs at Katz’s Deli for dinner around 8 before heading up to see the show at Momo’s.
Also, don’t forget to check out all of the hip sites that the band is on now. You can find the links listed below.

Last week, I gave away 5 spots on the guest list and that seemed to work well. So, this week, I will do the same thing again. Just send a note to nakia@nakia.net and in the subject write “Nakia + Momo’s = Good Times” and then in the email include your first and last name. If you’re one of the first 5 folks to send in the email, you will secure a spot on the list for you and a friend.
Thanks for listening and good luck!

Thank you to anyone and everyone who voted for Nakia & His Southern Cousins this year in the Austin Music Awards. Whether you picked us for something individually or the band as a whole. After the lovely Ms. Margaret Moser tallied up all the votes, we are honored to say that Austin chose us as one of the Top Ten Best New Bands of 2007 in Austin! Number 6 to be exact! My hat is off to YOU - The Austin music fans who come out to shows, buy music, tip us, and share the good word with their friends and family about the band!
Also - in an odd turn of events, a poster that I designed for our run of Happy Hours at the legendary Continental Club last Summer was voted the 10th Best Concert Poster for the awards as well! Seriously - A surprise, but a welcome one! THANK YOU! Here’s a smaller version of that poster for your downloading pleasure.
Congrats to all the winners and fellow runners up alike!!
I have been out and about a lot already this SXSW and caught a lot of great acts at some wonderful parties, including last night’s Music Awards, the Mayor’s Reception, and the Red Bull Moon Tower party! I must say that so far, by accident, I have seen
The Black & White Years 3 times and all I can say is WOW! They are simply put… The REAL DEAL. Their official showcase is tonight at Maggie Mae’s.
Speaking of showcases, don’t forget about our official one at Lambert’s Downtown BBQ on 2nd and Guadalupe Friday night at Midnight! Then we will be playing the RajiWorld +1 Party on Saturday at 7:30pm. Here are the posters (Guess which one I designed??)for those shows as well! Hope to see you out there! Then next Friday it’s business as usual at Ego’s Lounge.
