If you missed the announcement last Friday night, here’s a reminder…
 Tonight, we are back at Ego’s Lounge on S. Congress and Riverside for the weekly show, but this evening we have a special invite for the ladies - NO COVER! Yep, if you are thinking of heading down to Ego’s
tonight make sure to call up your girlfriends and/or bring the wife
along because from 8:30-10PM, ONLY during the Nakia & His Southern

Now… Thank you very much to everyone who made it out last Wednesday night at Jovita’s for my Birthday Bash Celebration!! It was everything I hoped for in a birthday party and more. As I mentioned before, we are an official showcasing artist this year at SXSW and we hope that if you are attending or know someone who is, that you will head down to Lamberts on Friday, March 14 to catch us at the 12AM slot - just before our good friend, A.J. Croce! More info on SXSW and our other appearances, including the infamous - RajiWorld+1 Party put on by our lovely agent, Roggie Baer - next week.

I just got a very sad text message indicating that legendary drummer, Buddy Miles passed away. According to his official website, Buddy crossed over in the presence of his friends and family last night, February 26th, 2008, here at his home in Austin, TX.
I was very privileged to have met Buddy several times and see him perform. This photo was taken following my performance with Will Taylor & Strings Attached for the Jimi Hendrix show in January of 2007. Buddy was on hand and told me that “Jimi would have been proud.” That is something that I will never forget. Buddy Miles was a good soul and will be missed by many.

I can’t believe it! Yet another year behind me and I have so much to be happy for.
