Step One: Complete AMF Incubator Application - DONE!

Posted on January 12, 2005

I have decided that instead of just posting these related entries here on my blog, that I am also going to post them at my regular site as part of a special series for the AMF Incubator Program. Enjoy…

Well, I have done it. I have submitted my application for the 2005 Austin Music Foundation Incubator Program. Click that link and read all about it. It’s amazing. What a unique and absoutely amazing opportunity it would be to win. The short end of it is that if I were to win, AMF’s program would grant me $15,000 in monies for recording a CD, marketing, manufacturing, and access to top-level mentors over a period of about 12-18 months!!

The process to apply is very simple, especially now that it is available to complete the application in it’s entirety online! The first year of the program, I submitted in person.

I got to attend a public forum about the whole process and met with some of the advisory board members there. It was great because I knew so many of them from my networking or shows and some through the Apple Store!

Needless to say - I am stoked! I feel that I have a great chance at winning this year and that I put in a great application. I will be giving updates as the progression continues. Selection of the semi-finalists should be around February 22nd.

Oh my stars…

Matt Hubbard welcomed me to the stage at Hole In The Wall this past Sunday night to sing a couple of songs. OK, look I am not even going to lie and say that I wasn’t stoked about that in itself. Matt is a very accomplished musician and rightly so. He shreds that “hola” keyboard of his. I know a certain piano player who is VERY jealous. The real kicker is the OTHER musicians that Matt welcomed to the stage. Here’s a few to study on. Let’s take a look, shall we class?

Charlie Prichard - Texas Music Hall of Famer and all around good guy. He’s been a staple on the Austin music scene since well…he kinda help start it! I got introduced to Charlie at Ego’s back in early December and then I have been fortunate enough to see him with one of my new favorite people, Carolyn Wonderland! (More on her soon!)

John Blondell - OK, so Matt recited a long list of folks this guy has played with. I know that the list includes Lenny Kravitz, Doug Sahm, Willie Nelson, and damn just GOOGLE him! Oh and I also met John through Ego’s and Small Stars.

Clarence Pierce - Here’s another fella I met down at Ego’s. He’s played with Freddie King and Etta James and The East Side Kings! This cat laid down what he kept calling, “nothing but the blues” and man was it ever!

Landis Armstrong - This dude is turning out to be an absolute hoot. I got him talking on video camera Sunday night. I also got to see him flex that guitar muscle of his with one of his MANY side projects, The Breathers. Friggin’ good stuff. I am hoping they like the video I shot of them. Landis can also be seen with The Small Stars wherever they are shinin’!

I got to sing “Wasted Days And Wasted Nights,” and “(Sittin’ On The)Dock Of The Bay” - WOW! The video turned out GREAT! I should have it up and posted soon.

Speaking of Hole In The Wall… Tonight is my solo debut there. I go on at midnight. I don’t know what kind of crowd to expect, but I hope it is decent. I have never been to the Tuesday Acoustic Showcase, but I hear good things. I am going early to catch Tucker Livingston and maybe, if I get off work in time, I will get out in time to see Amanda Cunningham and Kevin Brown too. There’s no cover, so if you’re the ATX night and don’t have plans…

…you do now! See you at midnight down at The Hole!
