Remember This Christmas
After losing several loved ones close to me and seeing others around me losing family and friends close to them I got a bit down a few years back. When it really became evident that the war was going to continue keeping our troops away from their families that really put the straw on the camel’s back. I sat down at a piano in Alabama and wrote this song in less than an hour. I brought it back to Austin and recorded it with my friend Luis at a studio he shared with Spencer Gibb. That version was sent out to family and friends that year. The following year, I was fortunate enough to have the song arranged by Will Taylor. We performed it as part of his 2006 Christmas show at St. David’s in Austin. (See the video below.)
Last year, I was asked by the Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau to put it on their new Happy Holidays From Austin CD compilation. This time I got together a full band for the production and recorded it with Mac McNabb at his studio.
This year, Remember This Christmas means even more to me after losing my own father to pancreatic cancer in October. Please enjoy the song and share it with your friends and family. Much love and Happy Holidays –
Nakia
