Austin, Texas’ Nakia blooms like a bright spring flower on his debut, Water to Wine.

Co-written with Austin native Michael Fracasso (piano, guitar), Water to Wine starts with the Fracasso-penned, soul-stirring anthem “Choose Your Poison.” Nakia reaches back to his roots to capture the down-and-out blues of album’s high point, “Elizabeth Lee,” and Mac McNabb’s expert instrumentation colors the steady rocking “There Goes the Neighborhood.” Fracasso and Nakia team up on the rhythm and blues marvel “Outta My Head.”

Water to Wine is graced by the producing and engineering genius of McNabb and his astute sense of studio dynamics. When the group crosses the epic threshold of “World of Love,” it is truly hard to top the beauty and fortitude of Nakia’s Southern soul music.

Water to Wine is out now.
