Sharon Jones & Michelle Shocked Say Nakia’s Got Soul!

In the last 24 hours we’ve had some great news come in that we wanted to share with you!

We just added two brand new quotes in the press section of the website for you to check out.

One from Sharon Jones. Here’s what she had to say:

“Nakia is the real deal y’all, he’s got some serious soul… And that’s what Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings are all about… Soul.”

You might remember Nakia joining Sharon and the Dap-Kings not once, but twice, on stage in Austin last year. It was after the most recent performance that Sharon’s quote came from, but we wanted to make sure it was official. Nakia sent word to Sharon’s team and last night when his phone rang during dinner it was none other than the one and only Queen of Funk herself, Sharon Jones. Apparently, she’s not much for email, but she was all for endorsing Nakia!

The second quote comes from another strong woman with a lot of soul herself, Michelle Shocked. Nakia has met Michelle previously in Austin, but it was her bass player, Jeff May, who turned her on to his newest CD, Water To Wine. After giving the record a few spins, this is what Michelle had to say via email to his agent, Roggie Baer of RajiWorld:

“I absolutely love Nakia’s Water To Wine, I love the singing, the songwriting and most importantly, the soul. His talent shines.”
