Rock Out In Person Or At Home… Just Rock Out!
Greetings to everyone out there on the Internets! I wanted to throw a quick update on the site and let you know about all the great things going on in my world.
Of course, I am hoping to see each and everyone of you Austinites (and any out-of-towners) that are in Austin area tomorrow night at the Continental Club happy hour show at 6:30PM. This one will be our last there until September, so come out and really rock it with us, won’t ya??
I am all kinds of crazy to tell you that this upcoming Sunday, July 22nd at 7Pm and 11PM ME Television will debut an episode of ME Live! featuring yours truly – the one they shot live at Antone’s back in April. This was done in HD with 4 cameras and the audio was mixed by the pros out at Bismeaux Studios so you know it’s going to be ROCK!! You won’t even have to leave your home. Just turn on ME TV – That’s Channel 15 on Austin’s Time Warner cable – sit back with some peanuts or something tasty like a Moon Pie and a RC Cola and ROCK it with us on the TV!
After that show we have the John Lennon Bus appearance on the 28th of July at the NAMM Show here in Austin! My 5th appearance on the bus and my 1st with a band! Again ROCK! Admission is free with your NAMM Badge.
Then if that stuff wasn’t ROCKING you enough… The Southern Cousins and I start a brand new residency… Our First!! ROCK!! Beginning August 3rd, you can catch Nakia & His Southern Cousins live EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT AT 8:30PM! Where you might ask?? The place where I really took my first bite out of the live music scene in Austin… Ego’s Lounge on S. Congress!! When I was with the Small Stars we played there every week. The room is legendary and has a really great vibe and feeling to it. The staff are amazing and the regulars are anything but regular!! Get down there early to secure yourself a “love chair” – yes they roll!! – up front. Remember, you can smoke there!
A couple of other ROCKIN’ tidbits before I go…
• You can now catch me in Wendy Colonna’s new DVD/CD recorded live at Antone’s. Visit Wendy’s site for more info. I met Wendy while we working on the Strings Attached Christmas show last year and hit it off. She invited myself, Shelley King, Ed Jurdi, and Kat Edmondson to come and sing some backing vocals with her at the show. It debuted on ME Live! last Sunday and it looks/sounds great! Congrats Wendy!! The DVD ROCKS!
• My long-time friend/collaborator, Stuart Douglas has FINALLY released his very anticipated new solo effort, “Eden Slips Away.” Listen to me now and believe me later… This ROCKS! Get it from CD Baby oriTunes today. I co-wrote a track on the record. It’s called Brokentown. Many of you hard-core ‘kia fans might remember that I was an original member of Stuart’s first band, Latenite Breakfast. I have been fortunate enough to have a co-write on each of his releases since his first CASSETTE release, “Pocket Savior,” which I also mixed and co-produced. I also did the design for the Stuart Douglas Band CD, “Walking In On America.” I only regret that Stuart wasn’t able to play on my first CD, but trust me, I am getting him down to Austin to record some guitar on the new full-length. (Yes, you can expect one sometime next year. I am taking my time with this one though, so no pressure – right?)
