Number 9?? Number 9????

I am listening to Waiting In the Wings
from the album “Master of Disguise” by Lizzy Borden
on my iTunes right now!

And I must say that it makes me SO FRIGGIN’ happy to tell you that! I used to LOVE this record. (Yes, folks, I am a former mullet-sportin’, black t-shirt wearing metal head!!) This was one of my favorite records from that era in my life. My buddy, Chris Whisenhunt turned me onto it. Chris, is now a pastor in my hometown of Fort Payne, AL, but he still rocks. I saw him a while back and we talked tunes.

Now, onto my weekend so far. Finally starting to feel better. It started with a good dinner with Roberto the Faithful on Friday night and then we went over to University Baptist Church to meet up with Roggie and Poltz. Unfortunately, Steve had to bolt before he got to meet Robert. I don’t think I have even told Robert about the whole, “…well hook a brother up!” comment that Steve made recently. Definitely one of the highlights of the summer so far. That phrase is among my current favorites next to one Billy and I started using the same day – “…it’s for the children.” Let’s use this last one in a few sentences, shall we?

“I am going to give him a piece of my mind… For the children.” or
“Could you please roll down the window? It’s for the children.” Finally… Billy’s funny example:
“Uhm, ma’am? Please leave a little extra room for cream and sugar? It’s for the children.”

Oh… Where was I? Yes, so Poltz had to bolt, but that was actually a good thing after all because he left his artist pass for Roggie and then she got an extra from Tony Scalzo and finally, Danielle from the Shivers came out with one final pass for Roberto the Patient and like that… We were in! This – again – was extremely good, because tickets were selling for $40 – $100 outside the church.
Yep, Will Taylor and Strings Attached doing the Beatles’ White Album featuring Joe Ely, Tony Scalzo, Billy Harvey, White Ghost Shivers, Tucker Livingston, Seela, Abra Moore, Carolyn Wonderland, Gary Clark Jr., and gosh… so many more – now you can see why it was a hot ticket! It was pretty kickass! Roberto the Concert Goer and I certainly enjoyed it and I know Roggie did too.

I think Joe, Tony, Billy, Seela, WGS, and Carolyn were probably my favorites, but it was just too amazing to narrow it down like that, so scratch that!

I will say it was an amazing time for me to catch up with some folks I haven’t seen in a while and to continue my discussion with Joe about his offer to let me record one of his tunes for my new record I start with Matt Hubbard and David Zettner producing on Monday! (That’s less than a day folks!) Joe is going to look for something a bit more upbeat to fill in that much needed slot right now.

Saturday saw a much needed lazy sleep in for ungodly hours come and finally around 3 it was time to get up, take a shower, buy my niece a copy of “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” from the iTMS and then head over to see MI:3 with Roberto the Movie Critic. We both give this threequel 4 big thumbs way up!! Funny, we eventually made our way to Kerbey Lane on Kerbey where our favorite manager, John, was working and we agreed that the last MI (that’s 2 if you’re counting?) was “way too Woo!” LOL! I am really tired of seeing action movies slow things down. This movie was tense, quick, and rough. I dug it. Bravo.

I did open my new action figure today and wow I love it! Peter Griffin is the perfect guy to put in a crazy gun-totin’ cougar outfit! And I love the smell of fresh action figures!

I think I might try and make it to the Universal Unitarian joint in the AM (OK – later in the AM) and catch my first Sunday service in AGES! I have been craving some good old fashioned spirituality and after talking to a buddy of mine who goes there, this place sounds right up my alley. A little church, a little pagan, and a lotta love!! We’ll see. I may sleep in again! I mean, it’s already almost 3AM!

Will Hoge on the iTunes now. I need to play with my settings on Ecto to make these templates go to iTMS instead of Google. Go buy yourself a copy of Carousel by Will Hoge. Great record! Nita… You know I miss you when I listen to this one.

Later y’all!
