It’s Not A Sound Auction…It’s A Sonicbid!
Well – It’s official. I am now a member of the Sonicbids family. I stayed up late last night working my ass off on the new bio, compiling press, resizing photos, creating new sound samples, and adding show dates, but the work paid off! I love my EPK! I think it looks way cool and it even kinda matches the site. I also went ahead and took the liberty of utilizing the “Promoters Drop Box” and by golly if I haven’t already seen the rewards? I got added to an Internet Radio station, called, Indie Connections, you should all head over there and make a request for “The Weather Man,” the song THEY choose to put up as my track. I thought that was way cool. I also submitted to a bunch of festivals, promoters and so forth. Neato mosquito!
It came at the perfect time. Just when I am really starting to build a great new buzz about the tunes and myself here and around Austin. With Siren Song Magazine’s interview fresh off the wire and the KXAN Interview fresh off the boob tube, I think it is all just perfect timing. So, head over to the EPK and feel free to share the link with anyone and everyone. Exposure rocks!
In a follow-up to a post where I toiled over going to work for the newApple Retail Store, opening at Barton Creek later this summer, I am proud to announce that I have taken the advice of many folks, and yes, including my own heart and soul, and took the job that they seemed very excited to offer me! Yep. Now I am really a member of the Apple “family” and you know that spells DISCOUNT! LOL! I will be one of the PT Mac Specialist and they have already asked me if I would be interested in teaching the GarageBand demos in the classroom sessions they hold periodically. Isn’t that shit cool? I am stoked. I start training on the 24th of May and get this…one of the many benefits is my own iPod!! ROCK!
I wowed them in the interview with a great Keynote preso. It detailed my life as a “Total Mac Enthusiast.” They seemed to get a kick out of it and they really enjoyed knowing the fact that I was already using GarageBand. Hence the comment above about teaching. So, as that goes, I will just keep the enthusiasm brewing, work hard, save money and get ready to record later this year, as soon as possible.
Tonight was the Austin Aircoolers monthly gathering at Deep Eddy Pool and Austin Pizza. Robert and I headed over after he got off of work and joined the gang at Austin Pizza, but we missed the meeting at Deep Eddy and the cruiser through town and First Thursday. I handed out the remaining flyers and invited everyone I knew to come down to Carousel Lounge on Tuesday to see my debut there. I hope to see some of them out. That gang is so much fun. Everyone has love for one another and that makes all the difference.
And finally, I called Jody Denburg at KGSR day before yesterday and made sure he had received my demo back during SXSW when I met him. (See the SXSW Day 1 Post) He said he had and that he had been too busy to catch up on the demos. I let him know I understood, and then proceeded to let him know I was going to be emailing him all the info about my upcoming show at Carousel on Tuesday in the hopes that he would feature me for the Daily Demo. OK boys and girls…It sounded like he was going to do it! I sent him a very nice email with all the details about the show and thanked him again for all the help and for his involvement with SIMS. So, just keep those prayers coming in and cross those fingers! I could have my very first radio airplay in Austin next week!
That’s all I have for now, folks. Time to get some rest. I am meeting with Erin Franklin of Agence Talent tomorrow about becoming a client of hers for acting work. She has hooked up a photoshoot with a fantastic photographer, Steven Noreyko, and I meet with him for that directly after my meeting with Erin. Then Erin is going to get me in front of the casting folks for Mike Judge’s new movie, “3001.” WOW! Pretty cool, huh?
OK – I am out! Peace!
